Spring Cleaning Tips

I am embarrassed to admit, but my house is OUT OF CONTROL right now. We are currently renting which is kinda annoying, but at the same time I kinda like it. Weird I know. I have just been slacking and just surface cleaning for the past several months. I am ready to tackle each room one at a time. I just decided that even if we are renting I am going to make the best of my spaces and make them feel and look more like I would like. I have a few areas that need ALOT more help than others.

There will be several post in this Spring Cleaning Series, but first up I am just going to tell you the plan I have made as to how I am going to tackle Spring Cleaning. I am on a mission to get this all done before my kids get out of school for the summer. So I need to get busy.

My tips for getting Ready to Spring Clean

1. Gather up all your cleaning supplies. I tend to run out and then always forget to buy them when I am at the store. So make a list of all the areas in your area that require cleaning products. Example...

Bathroom

Toilet
Shower
Counters
Mirror
Floors
Walls

Then write down whatever the cleaner you like to use for each job. Maybe you don't need to go into that much detail, but for me it helps me to remember. Never fails I will always forget something, and not having it while I am in the middle of cleaning drives me crazy. 90% of the time I never go back and finish whatever it was that I needed to do once I get the item I needed. One of my goals for getting things organized better is, I want to have a cleaning basket for each area of the house that contains only the products I use in those areas. I hate running all over the house looking for what I need. Makes it easier for your kids if they are helping clean to.

2. Find a couple boxes or use some empty tubs and label them DONATE, SELL, and TRASH. That way you can just throw things in there while you are cleaning.

3. Make a cleaning checklist or find one on Pinterest. This will help you stay on task. Its all laid out for you. You will have an idea of what to do in every room.

4. Make it fun. If there is an area in your home that needs a little sprucing up this is a great time. Make a list of the things that you are wanting to change or add. I have bathrooms on my mind, because mine are horrendous right now. So I will write down what I want to get to make it look better. MY BIGGEST tip in doing this is SHOP YOU HOME first before you go out and buy things. You will be amazed at what you can come up with.

My plan is to show you how I update these spaces in my home that need help while doing everything on a budget. I plan to show a few spaces each week for the next 3-4 weeks. I hope this helps you or inspires you to start Spring cleaning. I honestly wish I could just pay someone to do all the deep cleaning for me.. sigh... But I can't and its not going to clean itself... so.... I must put on my big girl pants and get busy!

Happy Spring Cleaning.
